British man found dead on Paphos beach

Tuesday 5 July, 2016 – A British man, 76, died yesterday in the sea in the Thalassines Spilies area in Peyia, Paphos, on Monday 4th of July.

The man was swimming with his wife but failed to make it to the shore, police reported. His wife found him unconscious and floating in the sea, it was added.

 Beach-goers in the area rushed to the scene to pull the man from the water. The man received first aid, but did not regain consciousness.
The Briton was taken to Paphos General Hospital, were the doctor on-call pronounced him dead. According to his wife, the man had a history of heart conditions.
Police said that the autopsy is expected to show whether the death was due to natural causes or drowning.
